Our History

The highly experienced team of Limbo Lounge and Sideways Classic Grill, as well as multiple restaurants both here in Sarnia and Toronto, have come together to blend their expertise and create Grind — a unique new Café & Catering Company nestled on the main floor of the St. Clair Corporate Center in downtown Sarnia.

The team was given the opportunity to take over the café in late summer 2014. The concept came together pretty quick with the decision it would be both a café servicing the downtown community with fresh house made food, as well as a full-service catering company. In November 2014, that concept became a reality when the doors opened for business.

We as a team are here to serve you. If it’s a fresh breakfast sandwich your craving, or a quick wrap on the go. If your a vegan or have gluten allergies. If you need your child’s birthday catered or you want us to do a dinner party for you and your friends. If its for bigger functions like a family-style buffet or a sit down wedding dinner we can do it. There are no limitations on what Grind can produce, create or accommodate.

Melissa, owner and operator of Grind, has been connected to the wedding industry for years through her mother and aunt’s wedding magazine – Bridal Confidential. She always new that one day having her own catering company would be a dream come true. No one knows how to cater to anyone better then Melissa. So let her guide you on your wedding journey through pure bliss.

“Brides are suppose to love the experience, not hate it” says Melissa. Creating the best possible menu to fit their needs and budget is what Melissa does best. When it comes to weddings she is one of the first ones there on that day and the last one to leave. With multiple skills in decorating, organizing, creating, bartending, serving and now catering, its surly to be an amazing experience.

Our Chef

Brian Hall – Owner & Head Chef

A native of Stratford, Ontario, Brian began his career in the restaurant industry here in Sarnia at the age of 18 as a dishwasher at Casey’s Bar and Grill. Throughout his 17 years in the industry he has worked his way up the ladder from dishwasher to line cook to sous chef to chef and kitchen manager and now owner and chef of Grind.

Having opened Sideways Classic Grill in February 2012 as the chef and kitchen manager, Brian was ready two years later to open his own place. Brain’s creative flare and love of food has set him aside from the rest. With multiple menu creations under his belt and several wins in contests around the city he has sure earned his spot in the culinary world.
